Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), established in 2019 through Republic Act No. 11220, is a state higher education institution located in Digos City, Davao del Sur. Formerly a satellite campus of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), DSSC now stands as an independent institution dedicated to advancing agricultural education, research, and community development in the region. Guided by its mission to develop competent, innovative, and socially responsible professionals, DSSC is mandated to provide advanced instruction and professional training in education, agriculture, engineering and technology, agribusiness, information technology, and other related fields.

In accordance with Section 2 of R.A. No. 11220, the College also undertakes research, extension services, and production activities to support the socioeconomic development of Davao del Sur and to offer progressive leadership in its areas of specialization. With deep roots in the local farming community, DSSC plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and driving rural development through science-based education and responsive extension services.

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) is primarily known for its strong focus on agricultural education, applied research, and rural development. Its key focus areas and programs includes (1) Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science, Horticulture, and Crop Protection, (2) Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry, (3) Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering, (4) Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, (5) Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology, and (6) Bachelor of Science in Food Technology.

  • Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security
    • Through its BS in Agriculture major in Animal Science, Horticulture, and Crop Protection, DSSC promotes modern and sustainable farming practices to boost productivity and food resilience in rural communities.
  • Agroforestry and Environmental Stewardship
    • The BS in Agroforestry program integrates agricultural productivity with forest conservation, promoting land-use systems that support both livelihood and ecological balance. 
  •  Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
    • The BSABE program equips students with the skills to design and implement agri-based infrastructure and mechanized systems that improve farm efficiency and sustainability.
  • Agri-Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Development
    • The BS in Agribusiness prepares students for leadership roles in the agri-enterprise sector, focusing on value chain development, marketing, and agribusiness management.
  • Animal Health and Welfare
    • The BS in Veterinary Technology program prepares graduates with technical and practical competencies in animal care, diagnostics, and disease prevention, supporting the livestock and veterinary sectors.
  • Food Safety and Processing Innovation 
    • The BS in Food Technology emphasizes food safety, preservation, and innovation, contributing to the development of quality food products and value-added agri-food systems.
  • Research, Extension, and Community Engagement 
    • DSSC is involved in community-based agricultural research, technology transfer, and extension programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of local farmers and advancing rural innovation.

  • 3rd International Conference on Agriculture, Food, and Environment (ICAFE): online research conference in partnership with Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta, themed "Sustainable Agriculture Practices: Navigating Environmental Challenges for Global Food Security."
  • UMAP Global Leadership Program at UKM Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia on July 28- August 5, 2024 to be participated by DSSC Student.
  • FPT Summer Camp 2024 in Vietnam, in partnership with University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) on August 11-20, 2024 to be participated by DSSC Student.
  • ASABE 2024: ANAHEIM Annual International Meeting in California from July 28-31, 2024 to be participated DSSC Faculty, Dr. Mark Jude F. Trondillo.
  • CULTURA 2024: Course Language and Culture of Indonesia a six-week online program designed to immerse participants in the Indonesian language and culture was participated by DSSC seven (7) BS Education major in Social Studies students.
  • Online lecture series on Artificial Intelligence and its Application in Agriculture on June 26, 2025 (Chapter 3) and July 2, 2024 (Chapter 4) via Zoom an initiative of DSSC in collaboration with Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). This was participated by the IT faculty members of the college who served as resource persons.
  • FTI Unissula’s International Short Course: 2nd Local Culture, Science, and Technology 2024.
  • ASEAN Green Entrepreneurship Hackathon 2024.
  • ATU-Net Webinar Series: World Environment Day 2024 hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia on June 5, 2024 participated by 25 DSSC students.
  • Online Short Course. Pathways to Publication: Equipping Scholars with Essential Writing and Publishing Skills.
  • Online International Credit Transfer Program hosted by Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta” participated by 82 BS Agriculture students.
  • Global Sustainable Development Congress in Bangkok, Thailand Queen Sirikit, National Convention Center, on June 10-13, 2024 participated by DSSC Faculty.
  • 10th World Water Forum hosted by the World Water Council in Bali, Indonesia May 20-25, 2024 participated by the college president, Dr. Fuentes.
