Camacho takes oath as 10th Chancellor of UPLB

Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. began his tour of duty as the new Chancellor of the University of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) on 1 November 2020.  He succeeded Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr., outgoing Chancellor, during the turnover ceremony held at the Baker Hall on 4 November 2020. He will serve a three-year term effective 1 November 2020 to 31 October 2023. 

Chancellor Camacho’s vision is “to lead UPLB as a future-proof institution that can sustain its relevance through the development of methods, approaches, and frameworks to minimize the cost and impacts of future events…meaning that it has internalized the lessons of the past, is adapting and facing the challenges of the present and prepared for future disruptions and issues.” Prior to his appointment as Chancellor, Dr. Camacho served as faculty member and Dean of the UPLB Graduate School since 2012.  He obtained his Doctor of Economics degree from Kyoto University in Japan, his Master of Arts in Economics Development at the Erasmus University International Intitute of Social Studies at The Hague, the Netherlands, and his BS Economics at UPLB.  More on this at https://uplb.edu.ph/all-news/camacho-to-take-oath-as-10th-uplb-chancellor/.
